Although every state is different in requirements, reporting and portfolios, I believe it's imperative to begin shifting your mind to what may be possible other than what we have always been conditioned to believe as parents, students and teachers in a public or private school setting.
While I am not against giving grades, progress reports or other quantified measurements, I share my take on administering these as a micro-school teacher. I share how my perception has changed and why I believe we need to embrace a different mindset when it comes to assessing student learning, mastery and progress-especially when it comes to having quality feedback in a smaller class size such as a microschool or learning pod!
